My Little Grey Book

this year,our nation is celebrating it’s 50th
birthday… i see ‘merdeka’ and all other forms of independence day
advertisements everywhere,be it on tv,radio or in newspapers.i somehow
find it irritating and annoying that all of a sudden,everybody and
everything is becoming so patriotic.if u were to think of it,most
companies are just using this very reason of 50th merdeka year to
create more publicity and increase their sales/shares etc.why is it
that people only make a hoo-haa when we have
been independent for 50 years? what abt the 2nd to the 49th years of
independence? aren’t they important? shudn’t we be thankful for all
those years as well..? i’m not saying that things are entirely quiet
during those years,but why be extremely noisy this year? just because
of the nice,even ‘50′ number? for eg,it is as though we only appreciate
our mothers,fathers,lovers on mothers’ day,fathers’ day and valentine
day…bullcrap! (btw,V-day is so ridiculously commercialised that the
purpose of celebrating love has been replaced by "oh gosh……money
spending time". i dun rmber st.valentine ever made it to send
chocolates and flowers to his lover while he was in prison 0.o) no
matter what,no matter where,no matter how long we have been independent
,wat race,wat religion,what sex, we shud all be thankful that we’re
free from the domination of foreign power… be thankful that we are
free from natural disasters,blessed with sunshine all year
round,beautiful beaches,nice food and the ability to live and mingle
with ppl frm different races and cultural background.having said that,i
am thankful and proud to say that i’m a Malaysian.

ps:however,i’d have to give credits to the
Ministry for producing documentaries on Malaysia’s Independence…and
also The Sun for having all those history pages for the public to
reminisce abt our heroes’ journey to independence. and for those Msia
haters/bashers, pls just STFU,save some money in the bank,grow some
interest,pack ur bags and get the hell out of Msia for crying out loud!
while u’re still here,breathing the Msian air,drinking the Msian water
and making money on this beautiful land,the least u can do is be
thankful……
